I thought fight of the night went to Carrano/ Kobold -- good back and forth action, some stuff I hadn't seen before (foot stomps?)

On another note, the "are there shady incentives to handle a fight a certain way" question really makes you look at a lot of MMA fights differently. More than once we've seen top-notch or really good grapplers go to striking with dramatic results (Gonzaga v. Cro Cop, Couture vs Sylvia,) and sometimes with more-or-less what you'd expect (Ortiz vs.Liddell) With Couture it looked like genius, esp. with Sylvia's reach advantage, but what if it were all "incentivized?"

    weird.

That and the suspicious lack of desire for most of his opponents to try and take him down... I must suspect something's going on there. Who would stand in MMA with someone who's already beaten you in a kickboxing match.
We had a pretty big thread when the Cung vs Frank fight went down.

Heck, I think you posted in it?

Someone probably already pointed this out, but I dont feel like reading the whole thread. Kimbo is no more of a MMA fighter than he was a street fighter. If he needs to be given a label, it should be "street boxer." There were rules to his street fighting matches, such as punching only. That does not constitute a street fight. I could see them saying no trash cans, beer bottles or chains, but how can you not allow any kicks, knees, elbows or wrestling and still try to call it a street fight. He had it coming and so did EliteXC.

I have spent the last few days emailing, calling and messaging every Kimbo fan I know and telling them of this douchebaggery. It has been obvious to me what they were up to since the Thompson fight. This guy is just a damn yardtard, nothing more.

That's when I thought that it was a little too much like the old saturday morning WWF matches.... you know "The Ultimate Warrior vs Kenny Schwartz" or "Randy the Macho Man Savage takes on Dave; just Dave. No last name. Just Dave."

Will the perception of fight fixing kill EliteXC? No. I mean, people never run Don King out of town.
haha what about Leaping Lanny Poffo

what's he saying anyway? The second part looks to me like "you fucked up"
They killed JFK in '63, so what the **** you think they'll do to me?

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris
