At my TKD school we use KWON shields and we use them almost every day and they have been around like forever. The only thing is, they are straight and not arched and you have to hit them with good form otherwise they can be a little unforgiving. Also I don't like their grips (no fun to hold for people who have no clue how to hold a shield properly)
But I can attast to their durability and if you know how to kick and how to hold them right they are nice.
Our national coach swears by the Adidas stuff but I don't know how long it lasts but they kick good, that is for sure.Sometimes you lose and sometimes the other guy wins.
At this point I don't owe anybody an explenation.

We got some of those slammers. They are pretty nice, but they are getting worn out. They are pretty old though. Definitely something to think about, thanks.

Neither to the Kwon shields, ours look like the one in the picture you click when you select "body shields" they maybe don't sell them any more. And I don't want to recommend stuff I am not confident about (meaning I haven't kicked the others) It was a straight shield, like a block, with handles on the back.
Yes to the adidas shield, it looked like this (only been training with them once, we usually use other mits, it is only for practising dollyos and tora jops)
Edit: in all honesty, I don't think people should use curved pads because they lead to bad kicking habits. The curve gives you a feel of "hitting right" while you most likely still kick "upwards". This you only notice when you strike a straight surface.
I see this problem in the MT class everytime I watch it (at Renzo) they hold the pads almost 45° angle and hence people develop a habit of kicking upwards wich leads to slow, powerless kicks with a good chance that you catch and elbow and break something in your foot/leg.Last edited by M.C.; 10/06/2008 10:30pm at .

Turning side kicks (turn over your back as a counter to a regular roundhouse you block with the arm while turning)
PS: my fault not dollyo I mean dytchagi, all TKD people please forgive me.

just to give you an idea, didn't watch the video, so they might use bad form.Sometimes you lose and sometimes the other guy wins.

I really had my eye on the windy curved shield, but I was trying not to spend $100. I'll probably end up getting some of those.
