New Technique Videos

Recently I was able to film some BJJ technique videos with Cole Miller and my friend Ben Guerierro (Black Belt under Liborio), as well as a few with Yves Edwards.

Nice vids, instruction is very clear. Question: On the double leg defense, can you work it without having your back against the cage? Why/why not? Second question: In future vids, will you show counters to these techniques? (Like, guy traps your shin kick, what now?) Anyway, thanks, I enjoyed this stuff.

I don't want to speak for Yves on the takedown defense but I'll ask him next time I see him and get back to you.

As far as the future videos, the plan is to have some new guys come in and show their bread & butter techniques and have others come back to build upon what they had done before. It's quite a challenge scheduling around fights, travel and injuries but we'll have as much carry over as we can.

I really like Yves' teaching style.

Also, I hated the superman punch because I had always seen people do it incorrectly, and I thought it sucked. Now that I've seen him do it, I like it.

I'm in the process of scheduling our next video shoot, so if there are any techniques you'd like to see expanded upon, or new techniques you'd like us to focus upon I'm all ears.

I'd like to see several ways as on how to take the back from your guard and if escaping side control doing a reverse roll/somersault is possible. or generally any way to escape side control.

That's off the top of my mind....maybe more takedown defense, I don't know surprise me.

I was surprised at how Harley the Swede manages his takedowns froma judo perspective.

We've got more videos in editing and will hopefully be posted sometime next week. We're also getting ready to shoot some judo videos and a series of more informal instruction with a couple of talented black belts that will be available on my blog.
