seminar was sweet far and away worth the money, even if all Coach Tripp had done was fix my hari goshi. I am definitely going to try a bunch of those throws, especially the cross collar uchi mata and the wizzer throws.

I am also not just writing this because Coach Tripp said he would be watching the boards to make sure I did.

Great clinic with coach Tripp yesterday with a nice turnout! I broke the index finger on my left hand within the first 3 mins of the seminar so my day was spent trying to get the grips and throws to work with my finger taped and screaming in pain but it was worth it.

I really like the work from the whizzer as well. i find myself in that grip often and definitely needed some more options.

Coach Tripp gave me the infamous 'troopa' tape that i have to get digitized and put up somewhere as soon as I can.

    Typing is painful..and slow...more later.

Seminar was awesome. The stuff I learned there is going to have a huge affect on my throwing game.
Furthermore, we learned how to break things I didn't even realize could be broken by compression; jaw locks, nose locks, a goddamn eye socket lock.
And special thanks to Mark for swinging through Ann Arbor to pick me up.

I learned a *lot* about Russian style throwing and gripping. Something theotherserge said in another thread, about how in sambo throwing is about locking uke to you and flinging him like a limp useless arm, makes total sense to me. I'm definitely going to be working heavily on the throws - especially the whizzer low uchi mata, windmill, the ski lift, lifting crossface kosotgari, and the overhook+belt grips ouchi gari, harai goshi, osoto gari. So much good material.

Plus, some nice cleaning up of ankle lock technique and details on securing subs immediately after throws.

Definitely looking forward to the next one.

seminar was great, it has been a great learning experience, even to this grappling noob... I especially like Coach Tripp's different approach towards throws, will try to make the next seminar... also looking forward to watching the troopa vids...

Great news! The 19th is a Sunday which means I'll have a couple of extra guys that can attend because they have Sundays off.

Last night, whilst sparring with a friend of mine, I managed to tap him out with that jaw lock from back control. Twice.
    Good stuff. Very good stuff.

I'm hearing that a video of the Feb 14 Seminar will be available for purchase soon. All proceeds go to Mark Tripp so those of you that were at the seminar and would like a copy for reference should pony up some cash and contact Moose.
