At that time I was learning a system of chi-gung that I now call "Zookinesis" (zoo = animals, kinesis = movement or exercise). It required the student to work with wild animals. The goal was to feel the pattern and dynamics of animal internal energy (chi) and copy it to essentially "become" that animal. You would then appreciate and be able to reproduce a wide variety of chi dynamics. This system also involved a large series of animal-like movements. The tiger movements, for example, based on the sequential rotation of all the joints of the body, have become an essential part of the way I do push hands and fighting.
