I have no idea, but Copacabana and Ipenema are the two most expensive places in Rio. They're for tourists, because they're safe, but you pay a big preimium for that saftey. I've been told not to stay anywhere in Rio other than Copacabana and Ipenema. I live in Sao Paulo and it's by no means cheap. I found it impossible to find an apartment with a lease period for less than 2 years, so unless you're looking to stay there for a really long time, I don't think you'll find an apartment. I'm currently living in a hostel, which is 800R/month. Check coachsurfing.com.

Copa can be a bit sketchy at night. Ipanema is much better. ( Unless you like getting accosted by drug dealers and women of ill repute that is. :) )
I prefer Barra. Safest part of Rio as far as I know, great gyms and less expensive if you want something close to the beach.
Expect to pay 2-3000 reais a month for a crappy apartment in Ipanema or Copa and the same for an ok apartment in Barra. -
