    Bad Ass!

I was raised on Marine and SeaBee bases. My dad was always in charge of the armory, except for those two years that he was a D.I. at Parris Island. I tried to join in '85 but they wouldn't take me because of some asthma problems I was having at the time.

    Moose,

It has been too long since I was in (1971 - 1974) to give you any valid advice on MOS options or MCMAP. But I would say make sure this is something you really want because getting in is easy, getting out isn't.

You may want to check out this site Marine Corps Recruit Forum - Marine Corps Community for USMC Marine Veterans

It is a forum for people looking to join the Marines who have questions.

I will say that being a Marine is something that will change your life. I didn't realize it when I was younger but being in my 50's now I look back and see how much what I learned there I used during the coarse of my life, good times and bad.

Good luck with your choice whatever it may be.

    Mike.

You should realize that you can be killed or disabled. I suggest you check out some vidz of soldiers getting killed so you can really understand this. Maybe even chat with some disabled X soldiers.

Do you think that the guys in the video are having a blast?
You don't go to war to have a good time. You don't enter a burning building because it cool. You don't get in a shoot out with drug dealers because its awesome. Its called DUTY. If you don't understand that before you go in then you were probably one of the pple who thought it was going to be like RAMBO or something.

    2) how much education will you get if you work from 40-80 hours each week?
A LOT if you know how to manage your time. I know soldiers who have gotten Bachelors and work on their Masters while deployed. It always boils down to personal time management and responsibility. I've taken more classes to work on another degree since I've been in, because its free so why not. If you think joe has a hard time try being in a Leadership position. My guys always had more down time then I had and I still managed to get plenty of school so I didn't take that excuse from them. If they weren't in school they had to explain why and it reflected on their monthly counseling.

I have the same problem, humm....maybe....

Cut to a scene in the space station. A light saber fight is paused. The young handsome Jedi Lebell Skywalker stands ready.
Pan camera to the evil, but incredibly good looking, Darth "Marine Corps" Vader.

Vader: Lebell, I am your father.

Lebell: Well that explains a lot, I mean the person that I thought was my dad was like some kind of total loser.

    Fade to black.

No wonder we have such a strong connection.

funny thing is Vader is the dutch word for father.
    coincedense?

still it would be a disturbing idea having you as a fasher.
you seem like the type that spanks his kids.

    oh wait..so was my dad...

seriously, whats up with not being allowed to spank your kids anymore?
    thats just very wrong.
