    There's Tai Chi, and then there's Tai Chi. Believe it or not there are some schools that train for and compete in san shou and shuai jiao. Ask Cullion, or liokault.

    I also know a Judo guy who swears that the push hands training really helped his Judo (he's very good).

    The founders of tai chi were local strong men who won fighting contests. Just as the older Japanese sensei who lived in a certain town got to that position by winning an open fight challenge, the same held true for a number of tai chi practitioners. Now if the majority of tai chi school / cults believe it's magic that makes tai chi work, well so be it, but that is not "grand ultimate boxing".

    The tai chi master of my lineage, William CC Chen, teaches san shou as part of the tai chi curriculum. In fact, the guy in red in the youtube video above was William CC Chen's son:
