    MMA Ontario

    Hi guys,

I'm one of the figures behind getting MMA legal in Ontario. We're putting on some fights on Oct 18th.

    http://www.thefsc.ca/index_ff.htm

The card there says Shonie Carter Vs Eduardo Pamplona, but this fight has been moved to Dec 13th, because there are some TV broadcasting issues.

Oct 18th, however, is an 8 man tournament.

    Cheers.

I didn't see where the event is taking place?
Edit: never mind..its on the REZ right outside my city. I will likely be there as I have many friends from Oneida.

It is actually going quite well. The show on Dec 13th will be covered on TV, FIGHT NETWORK is giving it some coverage and promotion as well. It isn't ideal to have to hold it on a Reserve, but we are lucky still to even have that chance. I was hired because I'm a Traditional martial artist, who also happens to border on the MMA world as well. I know, I'm one of those Ninja Larpers, so I had to do something good for you people :-p. Actually, people in the Genbukan have been very supportive as well, as well as Toronto Wado Kai.

I think MMA has a lot of value, and while I'm not entirely thrilled with it, I want it around to grow. Our shows are stressing etiquette between the fighters and we're trying our best to put a very positive light on MMA...which is the only way it'll be accepted in Ontario.

On a separate note, who do you think will win between Shonie Carter and Pamplona?

It's not surprising that Wado has a positive connection to MMA in Ontario. It is Jeff Joslin's MA background, after all.

I'm sincerely glad to hear it. As goes Ontario, so goes the rest of the country.

Indeed. A record of safety and good conduct should go a long ways.

Really happy to see this happening, I'd love for MMA to be sanctioned in Ontario. It'd be so amazing to go to a UFC event at the Skydome or ACC.

Jeez, I'd settle for the Hershey Centre.

Since you're a Ninja shouldn't that be shadowy figure?
