Secret Kumites: How many actually happened?

Which pre ufc, non brazilian fighting tournaments pitting different styles together under limited to no rules actually happened? And more importantly, where can i buy videos?

    I'll start things off:

Lebell VS savage in ring challenge match:
boxing vs judo, confirmed, video available on genelebell.com

    kung fu vs muay thai

southeast asian open martial arts tournament
a possibility. the wearing of gloves contradicts the statement that these were bare knuckle fights

The LEbell/Savage video is on Lebell's site...not really worth the money if you ask me.
I mean he kicks the dudes ass...but the video is only 12 minutes.
And that's when I figured out that tears couldn't make somebody who was dead alive again. There's another thing to learn about tears, they can't make somebody who doesn't love you any more love you again. It's the same with prayers. I wonder how much of their lives people waste crying and praying to God. If you ask me, the devil makes more sense than God does. I can at least see why people would want him around. It's good to have somebody to blame for the bad stuff they do. Maybe God's there because people get scared of all the bad stuff they do. They figure that God and the Devil are always playing this game of tug-of-war game with them. And they never know which side they're gonna wind up on. I guess that tug-of-war idea explains how sometimes, even when people try to do something good, it still turns out bad.

If I remember right, only the first of these (sometime in the 20's I think) was bareknuckled.

edit: I'm apparently thinking of a different tournament, since that link says the first one was in 1969.

I think there was also Kyokushinkai (or Karate in general) vs Muay Thai challenge.
Some Indian wrestlers came to West for challenge matches quite early.
& There were also matches between Savate & Boxing, as well as various streetfighters.

There were a small number of competitions in Hong-Kong, Cambodia and Taiwan in the late 50's/early 60's. Although I haven't found many specifics, just references like to them, this one...

    http://www.htai.com/kungfu/laihung.html

In 1957 Lai Hung participated in the Taiwan-Hong Kong-Macao Kung Fu Contest in Taiwan. He finished all bouts with winning honors! This was really something for him as he was the youngest contestant (age 19) at this tournament. In 1961 Lai Hung was chosen as a contestant for the Hong Kong Kung Fu Association competing in Thailand. He was nominated to represent Taiwan in the 3rd Asian Tournament. In 1966 he participated in the Kung Fu competition in Taiwan. At the age of 30, Lai Hung was undefeated in every tournament he entered

HAHAHA!!! "Old Kung Fu" is legit!!
Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog

The real Kung Fu has been diluted by American commercialism...
