    Frank Trigg vs. A.J. Styles

So I was flipping through the channels last night and caught a couple of minutes of TNA on spike. I was a little confused by what I saw and would like to know what you guys think. Frank Trigg was calling out A.J. Styles for an MMA style match: three five minute rounds where the only way to lose would be to tap out or get knocked out. I am wondering if this will be a real fight. What do you guys think?

Trigg is a bad enough actor to fit in perfectly in Pro Wrasslin'

Watching legit fighters sell out to fake wrestling (not that I wouldn't do it for the money if I had the chance) makes my soul hurt.

Don't take it so personal. Frank is making a couple of bucks, and he's not going to have to take huge risks in the ring to earn it. He will be "fighting" in an MMA Style (worked) match, which eliminates most of the top level, dangerous pro wrestling moves from the "fight". Think of it as stunt work for a movie/TV show, because what Frank will be doing in the ring will be acting, not fighting.

A.J. Styles is the brother of a guy at my BJJ gym and sometimes trains with us. Don't count him out!

Don't count him out? I'd bet that Styles is scripted to win.

In pro rasslin, the promoter will spend to bring in short term, outside talent (Trigg, Dennis Rodman) for a short run. Trigg benefits by getting his name out there more, plus he makes inroads into the pro rasslin business for future appearances, or even a full time career after he's done fighting. Trigg will look good during the wrorked MMA fight this weekend, but Styles will probably win. He's a top talent in TNA, and probably won't get buried with a loss. In real life, there's no shame in losing to Frank Trigg. In pro rasslin, the opposite is true- no shame for Trigg to lose to Stlyes. It's the most likely outcome.

The fact that Stlyes trains in BJJ will probably make the fight look pretty real, but don't forget that it's FAKE. Styles will win beacause it's in the script, not beacuse he's a better fighter than Frank.

Frank Trigg is a natural to go from MMA to pro wrestling

This is also a throw back to the 1900-1930 where legit hookers like Gotch and Strangler Lewis worked matches and fought real matches

    Everything goes full circle

You do know prowrestling is fake, right? (sorry 3moose) They've had these 'MMA fights' before on TNA and they're about as real as the wrestling. Don't be fooled just because Frank Trigg joined the cast of TNA.
