These are distinctly different. I can kinda get on board with the second one, at least against a trained opponent.

Make fewer blanket statements, & you won't have to apologize for them...

Or mix some Dog Bros stuff in with you regular stuff, it may change your POV.

Funny, you seem to have misunderstood, I am not making an apology.

What I will do is clear up my point a bit.

Though I admire what the dog brothers do, it isn't my gig. Nor, is it "street," anymore than anything were two folks line up and see the other person coming.

Anybody that really wants to get me, I am unlikley to see coming.

I have no illusion to a "duel" setting for application of my combative/combative sport setting, it just isn't real.

Wow. Okay. Keep doin' what you're you're doin', getting the same results. In fact, you're probably in the wrong department to start spreading that drivel. Have a nice day.

can we stop with the ego waving? and by ego I mean...well, I spent about 2 hours total making the point in that damn youtube thread disputing just the point of "gun good, huhuhuh". I'll make it again here: BALICKI/VUNAK/INOSANTO AND ANY OTHER FMA-JKD GUY WORTH THE MEAT HE'S MADE OF STRESS THAT 1.) YOU RUN AWAY 2.) YOU EQUALIZE 3.) DID WE MENTION RUN AWAY? 4.) USE WHATEVER BAREHAND TO KNIFE TRAINING YOU HAVE.

****, Ron and Diane spend the first five minutes of the 90 min. video (of which this youtube clip is a minute and a half of) belaboring this point. Yeah, we get it, gun beats knife, blunt impact beats knife, knife beats flesh. Sky blue, water wet. The best way not to get hurt in a knife fight is not to get into a knife fight.

Gun only beats knife if you have the combatives and footwork to make space and deploy your weapon. Generally your self-defense situations don't involve walking around with your gun out and trained on people who might be concealing a blade.

I consider CQ deployment and retention to be the most valuable anti-blade skill, next to awareness.

Also, maybe take the non-technical discussiosn to PMs?

I was expecting much more rage, and a bit more debate.

Thankfully (or un- fortunately depends on what side you've cemented your views) when I bought into the MA world and learned knife disarming, I never considered if they would actually work, and conversly I was never told that they would absolutely fail and that I would die if I ever tried them, which seems to be the extreams argued here.

While supervising some 12-13 year old troubled teens, they took the butcher knives to each other, swinging wildly. I disamed both of them, and had to deal with child protection services due to the force of my disarming.

Granted they are not crack head dealers, hardened knife fighters and neither of them were obviouly trained and both were grateful they didn't get stabbed, or have to stab. Doing something was better then not doing anything. And my training gave me the "something" to do.

well, the rage and debate came from the youtube reaction thread at youtube itself. unless you read it and that was your response.

SC: what do you consider non-technical?
