I've found no-gi grappling on sand to be awseomely weird in that after about five seconds you're both covvered in sand, absorbing all sweat and actually causing a fair amount of friction. In my opinion, it's close to the perfect balance between speed and strength elements that come to fore in conventional no-gi due to lack of grips, and the focus on technique that comes from the slowing down in gi grappling. Beaches are fun. :toothy10:

I wear a rashguard and gi-pants most of the time, sometimes I wear board shorts instead. Catching people in triangles is noticeably and frustratingly more difficult without the gi-pants on.
On the very rare occasions when I wear a t-shirt I'm constantly getting my hands or feet tangled in it. So I hate them... -

My biggest problem when I roll no-gi against someone with a shirt or rashguard on is I can't stop grabbing it. Twenty plus years of grabbing gi is hard to overcome. It really ticks me off since my mind is telling my hands not to grab the shirt but my hands are saying "lots of handles here, we're gonna just grab and pull him over, it's much easier".
I'd love to roll skins only but most people find it kind of gross with the sweating and all. Plus I'm not as fit as I used to be so I look better with a shirt on now to cover up the love handles. -

Board shorts or grappling shorts ( I like Sprawl) and a rash shirt work best for me. It may be just a mental thing but I feel I'm tougher to hold on to with a rashie as opposed to a t-shirt. Plus the rash shirt seems to dissipate the sweat better while the t-shirt turns into a drenched rag.
oh, and I'm only rolling skins with the opposite sex. Period. -

I usually just wear a t-shirt or a wifebeater for no-gi.
The only real benefit to the rashguard is that t-shirts get stretched out during rolling.
If you think it affects your ability grappling, it doesn't. Or it really shouldn't anyhow; it's in your head."This is why we are here.
