Ok maybe it was more complicated than I thought but since Phrost made the mistake too let me clarify: MMA rules means MMA rules.
K-1 Premium Dynamite is what the new MMA stuff is currently being called that is what the New years fights are. Read this page from the K-1 official site to make it clear. Note the pictures of wrestling and submission moves. Those people are not standing up.

K-1 is MMA in the orginal sense of the term. K-1 is an organization in where competitors representing different martial arts get in the ring under a unfied set of rules and fight. The "K" in K-1 is meant to represent all stand-up arts (karate, kung-fu, kickboxing) and the "1" is "one ring, one set of rules". It doesn't really matter if they onlyb fight stand-up or not. Under this definition submission wrestling events that allow entrants from varying grappling arts such as BJJ, judo, sambo, and the like are also MMA.
Realizing that the term MMA has now come to represent the sport we see in Pride and the UFC, and even furrther a hybrid style of MT-BJJ-Amateur Wrestling that most of the fighters in those events have adopted, K-1 has tried to differenate itself from "MMA". And just like the very distinct styles found in the early UFC's evolved into the MMA hybrid, the various stand-up disciplines in K-1 merged and now everyone there basically fights the same way. It is a natrual result of finding how to win, under a unified set of rules. K-1 is now a organization, sport, and a style, just like MMA. -
