How about we give the OP, three days to establish what rank the guy is claiming in BJJ and then if he can't we'll park this thread in YMAS.

at 1:28, he does appear to be teaching BJJ or Judo (a hip throw to armbar combination) in a BJJ gi while wearing a black belt. Not that it's enough for an investigation, but it's definitely something

Its enough to make inquiries. I have my hands filled with Gene Simco right now, does anyone want to contact this guy and ask about his BJJ credentials?

I am still really a newb here so forgive me, this will sound stupid. Let's say the guy learned a hip throw into an arm bar combo from a friend and now teaches it in his school. Does he have to have credentials in BJJ or Judo to teach it? Especially if he isn't claiming any rank?

No, the issue would be if he:

1) claimed to be a BJJ rank he was not.
2) Did things that implied he held such a rank. For example if he was a black belt in Karate, and a blue belt in BJJ and taught his BJJ classes wearing a karate BB, that would indicate to observers that he was a BJJ black belt.

After reviewing his site, there is no direct claim he is a BJJ BB.

It is only implied: In his video ( http://www.rapid-defence.com/default.html ) he is clearly seen, in a BJJ Gi, Teaching A BJJ Class, to students wearing BJJ Gi's. All while wearing a Black Belt.

On his site he has a gallery ( http://www.rapid-defence.com/photogallery/index.html ), which say Pictures from BJJ: Showing various position of BJJ, also with headings saying Sparring in BJJ Class etc. Implying this is a BJJ Class! In this picture you can only see Half of the instructor who is seen wearing a black belt for a BJJ Class.

There is also another picture with him and two other's a Brown and Black belt, but this is not at his own place as the walls and matts are different colors. In this picture he is seen wearing a white belt. So this would seem to be a seminar with legit BJJ ranks.

On his web page ( http://www.rapid-defence.com/bjj.html (Note: BJJ)) there is another picture of him standing agianst the wall while 5 students sit infront of him wearing BJJ Gi's, this is not so clear as he is wearing a black Atama gi top, but it looks like he is wearing a BB. Also the alt text, if you hold your mouse of the picture says "BJJ Class".

Apart from this there is no direct comment of him saying he is a BJJ BB.

If this is out of place, please could a mod move to YMAS.

This picture makes SPECIFIC reference to BJJ, but the other picture (against a wall with students in front is under the heading "Submission Grappling". This is getting right down to the semantics.
