Competitioin day eating
I am training and trying hard to get into some sort of shape for the Bravado BJJ open September 13th
When I normally go to BJJ class I go in the afternoon and don't eat breakfast, rather take some BCAA suoplements for energy and drink water.
this has helped me lose weight and keeps me strong during rolling as my body isn't waisting energy trying to digest food.
Now for this competition they are allowing people to weigh in the day before.
Without food in my tummy I weigh about 199-201 with food about 205
I want to compete in the 205 weight class
With weigh ins the day before I assume there will be some serious weight cutters who are going to be fighting in at 215. I am ok with that it's when I start rolling with guys at 225+ I find it difficult.
anyways on to my question
So lets say I weigh in the day before what should I eat the day of?
Because I'll be in the men's 205 white belt division I'll probably be competing much later in the day which means sitting around for hours.
Should I make myself a protein shake, bananas?
What do you guys do?

Brown rice is good. It's hard to make a whole meal of it though.
I prefer heaping plates of wheat pasta (rotini shaped for easy forkin). I typically eat this 3-5 hours before any practice or match.
I like the gatorade too, especially if you have to cut down the make weight.
You're lucky you get to weigh in the day before.
Is the no-dairy thing just for gas avoidance? I drink milk and eat yogurt like its going out of style ...
Depends on a lot of things. Since it's the day before weigh-ins and you're not cutting you have it much easier since you're not starving.
The night before will be more important. Load up on some carbs after your weigh-in so you'll be set to go in the morning. Eat something you're used to eating.
The day of it will depend when you're fighting. Good breakfast is a must but if you can roll with the supplements you take go with that since that's what your body is used to. Small snacks throughout the day to keep your energy level up, save any significant eating after breakfast for after the competition.
I wouldn't worry about guys cutting a lot in the white division. If they are, they should be fighitng up if they're going to take it that serious.
What about a supply of potassium? Does potassium help with energy reserves, or are carbs a better route?
I'm not the expert, but I think the potassium just helps prevent craps.. (edit: cramps lol)
