Have you ever been in a real life confrontation? or do you have to have pads for contact?
Well I have been in a couple of "real life confrontations" when I was a little younger, but these days I prefer the PLUSH cushion of boxing gloves and mma gear.

So Maui, if all the "martial" has been taken out tkd, why don't you put it back? and don't forget to video it!

And don't be a ***** and use pads. Make sure you do it in a real life situation, like on the battefeild. Find some terrorists and have a go at them with a flying side kick.

You realize that Ameris's teacher Hee Il Cho has a school in Hawaii right?

Good TKD is still out there, you just nned to know where to look.

From what I have seen Hee Il Cho's tkd looks pretty good. He trains boxing for his hands if I'm not mistaken.

    Thanks for the posts.

Please don't think that I do not believe there are any good practioners anymore!

I am just stating that TKD is not represented well....and especially at this Olympics.

I agree that Master Cho is more like what I am talking about....unfortunately he is on another island...however, I did train with Dae Sung Lee (one of the most althletic and fastest masters I've ever watched fight).

I also agree that TKD is not most well-rounded of Martial Arts. I wanted to better my upper body work as I felt that TKD did not emphasize hand work enough. That is one reason why I also studied Wing Chun. But that is my opinion.

But TKD has such great philosophies and techniques! I love KICKING! It can be a great style when it is used with skill.

I just wish that TKD was represented better and its real capabilities were showcased to the world better. There are some great videos out there, but there are so many more bad ones.

    Peace.

If you do TKD and like it fix the huge gaps it leaves now a days by supplementing in some boxing or muy thai. but i can defiantly feel your frustration at the shape TKD is in though.
