i hate all this god damn weight hopping... defend your belt like 6 times, then change class. as long as there are contenders (which there are a TON of at 185), there should be no movement.

I don't know if that's true for middleweight, but it's definatley true for lightweight, which has a deep talent pool and BJ Penn wants to fight for every belt, even though he's only defended his once.

I personally prefer watching the single elimination tournaments from the days of old. I would very much like to see the tourney format return to the UFC especially. The UFC could promote six more events per year if a tournament was held for each weight class and open weight.
Under unified rules, tournaments would be safe and enjoyable.

YEah maybe one tournament a year wit the best of the best from a certain weight to a certain weight like someone just said like maybe 165-195 or somethin. That would be bad ass I think GSP would do very well, forrest griffin and anderson silva also. I would love to see who would come out on top. GSP FAN HERE ALL THE WAY THOUGH!

I don't think its going to be as exciting as you guys think.
It would have to be one, maybe two rounds tops, in order for it to be feasible, time wise, and safe, health wise.
PROOF that I'm not a completely useless poster:
