Fighting is a lot about ego for many of us, the last thing i want is for my friends, family, gym-mates and the pretty groupies to see me gas out round one then get beaten up.

I don't see how wanting to not get your face smashed in because you've gassed is egotistical

I think of what my opponents are doing, and visualize myself training harder than they are. Lately I've been thinking of this cheesy youtube video of kimura's training regiment.

anger and pride. i'm usually angry at someone - so i focus on the anger to keep me aggressive...and then there is pride...it keeps me going after my body (well...my rotator cuff) says, "Noooooooooooooooooooo!"
..and then I find myself out for another 6 weeks with a sprained rotator cuff...

In the gym with a bunch of others killing themselves it's easy to push on. But it's insane how much more you can do in that environment, working so hard that you shoes are soaking wet, your feet are turning into hamburger.

When you're out on your own doing road work, sometimes it's hard to feel the inspiration. There are the trips out there where you feel all lit up by your aspirations. But there are the other times where it's hard, when you don't feel invigorated or inspired, all you have there is stubborn determination. I think the latter are more important to deal with mentally.

Sometimes I'll say things in those moments like, "this is what you do." or "this is who you are" or "You suffer now, so that you don't suffer later"

I've given myself a good slap from time to time as well.

Two chicks at the same time if I finish the race. That kept me going through all of cross country running in high school.

Don't think I could satisfy two (if even one) lady after a workout. But definitely having some place to zone off to in a run can do wonders.

I've had my running MP3 play filled up with all sorts of inspiration, but I'm running out of new things to keep me going. I need to feel the goosebumps while I'm running down my trail alongside a creek. Just looking around at the nature, feeling alive and on the move.

When I'm totally out of gas, like for real out of gas?

Patience, and a little bit of healthy self-hatred.

"**** you Jordan" I say to myself.

I just smirked typing that last line.
