Would you care to edit your post and put a goddamn 3-4 sentence summary of what that link is all about?
Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. New: On strenght standards, relationships and structural balance. Shoulder problems? Read this.

My crapuous vlog and my blog of training, stuff and crap. NEW: Me, Mrs. Macho and our newborn baby.

New To Weight Training? Get the StrongLifts 5x5 program and Rippetoe's "Starting Strength, 2nd Ed". Wanna build muscle/gain weight? Check this article. My review on Tactical Nutrition here.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

I've heard of this but am too lazy to click the link.

I remember when I was 16 or 17 I clocked in at 5kcal/day, due to teenage growth spurt and training 5x/week.

It wreaked havoc on my bowels, particularly since it wasn't a good set of food (highly processed, lots of milk when I'm somewhat lactose intolerant, and generally just not varied enough). I wonder how Phelps' butt is doing.

Quick summary, because I did read it: My gawd, he eats a lot, don't try this at home or you'll get fat and need rotorooter for your arteries.

"Breakfast: Three fried egg sandwiches; cheese; tomatoes; lettuce; fried onions; mayonnaise; three chocolate-chip pancakes; five-egg omelette; three sugar-coated slices of French toast; bowl of grits; two cups of coffee
Lunch: Half-kilogram (one pound) of enriched pasta; two large ham and cheese sandwiches with mayonnaise on white bread; energy drinks
Dinner: Half-kilogram of pasta, with carbonara sauce; large pizza; energy drinks"

I call bs, just 3 meals a day? And that kind of junk is bad even if you're burning calories like carazy. I'd say it's disinformation to put off people figuring out his real diet.

Dude, he needs to eat that "junk" for it's caloric density, not for it's health benefits. It's not a daily diet, but a competition one.

I saw another article along the same lines in The Guardian, and it looks like they're all drawing from this NY Post article. Caveat lector.

I've read some justifications of said diet, mostly along the lines of "he needs lots of calorie-dense food to sustain his exercise volume", but I suspect that if he is actually eating as described in the article, he's just eating whatever he feels like.

I'm guessing he spreads it out over the course of six or seven meals a day. A normal person burns about a thousand calories an hour swimming laps and Phelps is a big guy, so I guess it makes sense.

I'll bet he drops a deuce every four hours, though.
