Taiwan = HELP US we like to cause **** and, like an ant climbing the leg of an elephant, we like to bug China.

It is indeed a tough call. A war with China would be a devistating affair, to be sure. I think the issue will continue to raise its head for some time to come. One can only hope that a match is not dropped into that powder keg.

The problem is the dumbass government of China won't recognise Taiwan's independence.
I should ask my parents about this, I'd like to hear their opinion.

(They were born in Hong Kong. They watched the China, er, Chinese takeover of Hong Kong with emotionless faces......)

Taiwan has a capable military, and china can't send massive amt. of troops to invade the island (right now anyways). So I would expect the u.s. would support Taiwan for a long time.
