    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    hamstring weakness

Here's an odd one. I noticed a few weeks ago that my left hamstring is extremely weak, as in even light exercise will make it quiver and the lack of strength is noticeable for a couple of days after. At the Kuoshu tournament in Baltimore, I had to drop out of my last four divisions because I pulled a groin muscle trying to compensate. It's never sore, it's just weak. Unless I'm moving upwards, as in stairs or pushing up after kneeling, I don't notice it.

My concern is this. Had I pulled it, I would remember the injury. My fear is that it's a nerve problem, because it cropped up after the five hour plane ride to Baltimore. I've got an appointment with my doctor, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and, if so, what was it and how long did it last?

So far folks, middle age sucks.

Hmm, clicked on the links and got a nasty message that I'm not allowed to go there.

Middle age is only old if your age starts with a 1. Or maybe a 2.......

Is the effect most pronounced low down, just above the knee?

It's pretty much the whole hamstring but mostly in the middle. I'm really thinking it's neuro-muscular. My hamstrings are pretty well developed, so when I sit in a chair with any kind of raised edge, like the seat on many airplanes, I feel pressure right in the middle.

My main concern is that it's never done this before and it's been a month, and is only marginally better. We did some low key rope rescue training yesterday, and the only physical part of the exercise for me was climbing up and down a 40' rock face once. My leg shook all the way back to the rig.

Aggh ****, I trollshidoed the entire thread instead of just the retarded e-mails. Me so sorry.
Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. New: On strenght standards, relationships and structural balance. Shoulder problems? Read this.

My crapuous vlog and my blog of training, stuff and crap. NEW: Me, Mrs. Macho and our newborn baby.

New To Weight Training? Get the StrongLifts 5x5 program and Rippetoe's "Starting Strength, 2nd Ed". Wanna build muscle/gain weight? Check this article. My review on Tactical Nutrition here.

t-nation - Dissecting the deadlift. Anatomy and Muscle Balancing Videos.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Viagra is awesome. It hasn't helped me with sex but it keeps me from pissing on my shoes.
