I'd have to rewatch the Hendo fight, but I don't recall Dan landing any shots flush to his grill. As for his MT fights, I've never seen any of them so I couldn't say. You do I have a point though that he likely ate some shots in them.

Silva ate some good punches against Jorge Rivera and Lee Murray without seeming too bothered. I don't know how much it'll matter, because I don't think Cote is either fast enough or accurate enough to hit him flush.

Lee murray was actually fairly accurage in their fight. Silva's head movement is extremely good. In MMA really only Rampage gets his head out of the way near as well.

I train with Jorge, and I can pass these words along from him when I asked about his fight with Silva.

"He's deceptively strong, and his chin is made of rock."

Cote out in round 1, TKO'd on his back.

I believe in Silva's 2nd fight with Franklin, Rich landed a good right hand, flush on Silva's jaw. Silva blinked, and that was well. Not tested against a puncher like Cote (that I know of anyway), but he's got a good chin, and it will take a very good punch to knock him down, let alone KO him.

Cote said words to the effect of that he's prepared to eat a few to land his bombs because he's confident he hits that much harder. Irvin said much the same thing before he got dropped with one punch. Cote also said his gameplan is to keep coming forward. I like the guy as a fighter but I'll be impressed if he lasts a round.

youtube is blocked at work so I'll have to watch the videos at home.

Jorge landed some seriously hard overhand rights. And that guy throws. He's certainly dropped some big players.

There are a few guys in the UFC who seem to not get knocked down too often, and the majority seem have really big heads and jaws. Jackson, Penn, Silva, Randy, they all have really wide necks and jaw lines, and all have been knocked down a choice few times (usually by really big punchers like Liddell or Silva). I have a theory, albeit really unfounded in any scientific or medical knowledge, that people with this kind of head/face construction are predisposed to taking hits. Fedor is another.
