    Hell yeah! Hell no!

The problem... stomach kinda of... big?

I see a few people in my class that are fit for the most part but have this... big belly. I am starting to have one and I'm worried, I haven't been taking MA long but here is my question. It feels like, only some of it is indeed fat. It's like my actual GUTS are big? how can I shrink my stomach? I think my problem was I ate like a horse when I was a teenager and kept it up longer than I should have into adulthood. The training I'm doing works the core out but it really feels like my actual stomach is big.

Other than the slight stomach I look normal otherwise, some would say pretty skinny.

your abdominal muscles might be developing.

you might have too much excess "crap" in your intestinal tract.

you might have "gas" or be lactose intollerant which causes gaseous distention.

    you could have a parasite.

do you have constant bloating, tender abdomen....stuff like that? if so, see a doctor.

otherwise, burn more calories then you take in and make the calories beneficial

Thanks, I was lactose intollerant when I was younger, then for some reason at age 17 it didn't seem to effect me as much in pain, so I started eating it. What do you guys think of fasting? How about getting rid of a parasite (man that freaks me out). No constant bloating ot tender abdomen or anything like that.

    Thanks again!

I was kidding about the parasite.

Most likely you are other keeping "crap" in your intestines, causing gas and bloating or you are working out harder then expected and your abdominal muscles are developing.

If Em or Teh El come on, they usually have a picture of the "weightlifter beer belly" they can post to show a large, muscular gut.

I have a similar kind of thing, I think. My belly kinda sticks out if I'm not flexing my abs, and if I push it out all the way you can clearly see and feel the muscles. I guess after reading Plissken's posts, it makes sense that it's abdominal muscles, I used to do situps, crunches, and planks like they were going out of style back in the day.

-Normal people doing normal things do not look like underwear models/bodybuilders while flexing and posing. Make sure you're comparing apples to apples.

-There's subcutaneous fat (just inside the skin but outside the muscles, reflected by skinfold measurements) and visceral fat (between your abdominal wall and your internal organs). Which are we talking about here?

Is there a noninvasive way to measure visceral fat?

Well, there's the Bod Pod, buoyancy tests, or you can take your chances with a body impedance scale... but there's no easy and free way to do so that I'm aware of.
