    Taekwondo Master Instructor Sid Nelson

Has anyone on here heard of or trained with/under him?
His school is just down the road, and I want to know if it's worth while to join.

    This dude?

Well there are no fat BBs, but they do have a 2th dan kid who can't even be 13... But I have meet a kid BB in taekwondo at a camp, and he was hardcore....

    Taekwondo Oath
I shall observe the Tenets of Taekwondo

I shall respect instructors and senior students

    I shall never misuse Taekwondo

I will be a champion of freedom and justice

I will build a more peaceful world
would have turned me off. His club sounds like more of a cult... But at least he knows how to kick without losing his balance (YouTube - Sid Nelson - Promotion to 7th Degree Black Belt - 2006 and he has a sense for good music...

General Choi Hong Hi is considered the father of modern Taekwondo.
At least that proves he doesn't know much about TKD history.

Their classes are only 1 hour at a time, and a proper warm up takes about 10-20, not much left over for training. ( almost as bad as the bullshido club in my town, each class 40 minutes), and they don't even mention price...

Well if the price is right, and you want a traditional taekwondo club...Go for it

The Photos show Nunchucks and bo staff and short staff. Sounds like a find!

The newsletter promises you a red stripe on your belt if you read 3 books!

Seriously, what are you asking about?
Go to some classes, hang out and see if these are the people you want to spend lots of time with, and if they provide you skills, experience for what you want.

They live down the street so you might spend time training instead of commuting.

Well this whole idea of people who dont think a kid under 13 should have a black belt of 2nd degree black belt i kinda agree with but i also disagree with it. What do you tell a kid who has put in 6 years of training and is good at what he learned. You cant be a black belt cause your too young. That would definatly upset and discourage the child. So what is the big deal if there is a kid with 2nd degree...?

If you set it up from the beginning there is no issue.

That would definatly upset and discourage the child.
There hundreds of schools that offer junior Black Belts or something comparable that keeps children motivated.

The only way it would discourage a child is if, you hold it up a some type of superior accomplishment.

So what is the big deal if there is a kid with 2nd degree...?
There are things that children can't do. Sorry that is a fact.

I went to my first free class tonight (he gave me a free month to feel the place out) We did stretches, which took about fifteen minutes, and a few quick sit ups and push ups. other than that we worked on heavy bags and sparring. I was surprised, because I was told you normally had to be atleast orange belt to spar, but he had everyone doing some sort of sparring. I guess it was not as bad as some, however he kinda flinched when I mentioned being a fan of MMA, and actively looking for a gym to train at.
