If you're interested, theres a free wrestling club in Manhattan, Twin towers Wrestling Club. Heres the site : http://members.aol.com/__121b_Mo928k...5ek6ZH6Yt0Qg==
They meet on Tuesday and Thursday night, ex-college wrestlers are there and beginners too. The club is free but you have to have a City Recreation Pass, which is $50 per year, pretty cheap and it gets you access to other city recreational clubs.
The website says that people practice wrestling as well as BJJ/Submission wrestling.

Argh, I'm sorry. In my excitement, I left my reading comprehension skills in my other jacket. Please post if you will be doing any training on weekends.

The meets in McCarren Park have been going well, he and I have met up a couple of times and rolled and drilled basics.
Good stuff and its always good to have more options to set up work-outs.
Any and all are encouraged to come through and roll.
But I'd bring long sleeves and wear gi pants. At the moment the surface is a bit unforgiving to skin. Its this weird fake turf.
But with skin covered it was fine.
Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender,
be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant;
they too have their story.

Winters coming though and it might be harder to roll outside lol.
you guys might be able to find mat space at a recreational hall too (like the wrestling link I gave), if you get some guys together and form a club at times when its not in use. Just a thought for cheap training.

Well then theyd be paying money, which the OP said he couldn't afford for a few months. Thats why I recommended the free wrestling club.

Sorry to those who posted after my last; I stepped away from this thread for a while.
The McCarren meets went well but between weather and injuries, we had to stop. I've managed to nail down a work-for-training deal at a Midtown gym (same one where the NY Sambo guys train), but it's mostly a MT place. And right now the gym is closed for a few weeks while they change locations.
I know a guy in Greenpoint who runs a small local EMA school and would be willing to rent it out to me at a reasonable rate if I could get a core group together. But that only really makes sense if the members are from north Brooklyn since it's a bit inconvenient to come out here from Manhattan.
Anyone still interested? Hit me up directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
In the meantime, I will check out the Manhattan wrestling club link. Thanks.
