    hmmm.. good question. Most of my google searches only bring up the video rather then any description of location. According to wiki, BJ entered his first grappling tournament in May 1997 and was awarded his blue belt sometime that same year, so I imagine it was sometime that year.

    Also, how do we know he was an actual white belt in BJJ at this point? Could he be wearing a white belt just because that is his Judo rank?

    Plus it is a black and white video...
    In local tournaments one usually does not wear his rank belt anyway but rather is given a white or blue depending on his bracket just before the match. Blue on b/w = black.

    I'm not saying they were not blackbelts, they may well have been....
    But the amount of play that video got.....it'd be good to know the details...
