Best throws/takedowns for MMA
What are the best throws or takedowns for MMA?

osoto-gari, single leg, double leg, over-under wrench, kokyu-ho (from aikido)
those are my fav's anyway, pretty much the standards

The thing I hate about BJJ is that people say osoto-gari, and I'm like, "What?" And then they show me and I'm like, "Oh. We call that the one where as you step close to the outside of your opponent's foot you push your opponent off balance to the rear corner while holding him/her close. Your other leg then sweeps the opponent's leg out from under him/her using your body as a single lever motivated by pelvic action."Normally, I'd say I was grappling, but I was taking down and mounting people, and JFS has kindly informed us that takedowns and being mounted are neither grappling nor anti grappling, so I'm not sure what the **** I was doing. Maybe schroedinger's sparring, where it's neither grappling nor anti-grappling until somoene observes it and collapses the waveform, and then I RNC a cat to death.----fatherdog

I really like tani otoshi - in English: grab around the opponent's waist from the side (i.e. you're facing his side), bring one leg behind both of his legs, sit down, pushing him down - aw, just look at the animation.
Does anyone else use that takedown? There are no wrong threats, only wrong answers. (Strategy game truism)

O Soto Gari works man. I basically broke my neck because of that throw. For real too, no bullshiit.
I think that the double and single leg works well in a real fight but in MMA its just too easy to counter. When you deal with MMA you're talking about trained fighters who expect aggression like that and are prepared for it. Alot of people ignore the clinch and simple takedowns from that postiton. Moving someone against a wall while staying close makes it alot easier to take the person down as well as giving them less room to hit you."All warfare is based on deception." -Sun Tzu, ca. 400BC
Reverse punch Kiaii!!!

school yard trip works well for me.
