im talking about traditional jj armlocks from stand up.
look at the following pic, something like that but then slightly more upwards and the guy doing the lock sorta twisted his arm over the elbow joint and stuck it in front of ukes chin.
no need for sucha complicated lock.
the type of lock resulted in the same sorta manipulation as you see on this pic

I had a JJJ beginner belt test. First time this senior instructor came by. We do the test and get to the Judo aspects, and he calls out "time for judo hold downs". I know them all, he keeps calling them out, I keep doing them.
(Him Screaming)
Instructor - "What are you doing?"
ME - "I am doing what you ask."
Instructor - "Where did you learn those holds."
ME- "Some here and the rest at judo."
Instructor - "Well this is not a judo test is it!"
ME - "Yes er Nope er ???"
I just stared at him perplexed. My style of JJ is a heavily judo based one, according to the founder who has high black belts grades in both.
Although I passed. Just didn't get it. All these years later...I still don't get it. We learn the Gokyo and newaza. I also did TKD, I am lucky he didn't ask for a 380 jumping twist kick. I would have done/tried that for him too.
I wonder if he ever went to Europe for some seminars. Love them Pot bellied drill sergeant.
