    Vampirism - Does it Exist?

Surprisingly, there is apparently quite a collection of vampire pages on the internet that describe methods of determining if you're a vampire, things you can do as a vampire, etc.

    A few examples:
    http://vampirewebsite.net/
    http://vampirecommunity.com/
    http://www.aquilus.net/

There are a few more I will update the list later on.

What are your opinions on vampirism? Apparently there have been a few medical studies on it, mostly in the field of psychology (surprise surprise), that reveal that often those who claim to be vampires practice self-mutilation and can later engage in assaults and even murders.

From what I've read they believe there are two types of vampires - those that feed on blood and those that feed on energy.

Personally, I think it's definitely very odd, but what strikes me as being the most interesting thing is that some people have reported having withdrawal-like symptoms after purposefully abstaining from blood/energy for extended periods of time. Whether this is psychosomatic or not I have no idea, nor do I have proof one way or the other.

Edit: Truth be told I think it's bollocks. I just think it's kind of interesting/funny.

Uh, what exactly am I looking to be skeptical about here? Do I think that some people read too much Anne Rice and occasionally drink blood? Yes.

Do I think those people are immortal unless exposed to sunlight, holy water, or are staked through he heart?

    Uh . . .no.

Mostly about the aspect that its some sort of pre-existing condition/mythical stuff that grants them super strength or energy magic like they are claiming on some of their websites.

Also the physical need to drink blood and the ability to "feed" on "energy".

There's quite a bit of stuff to be skeptical on if you ask me.

Any other fairy tales you would care to explore. Perhaps the deeper meanings behind the tooth fairy? How about the psychic energy stealing powers of the easter bunny.

Hey, let's not jump to conclusions! The Stake-thru-the-heart idea is really worth a experimenting with, and I'm certain that some sunlight would do those pasty posers some good.

The closer you self-identify with a Vampyr character, the greater the chance a "flounce thread" will eminate from you.

Wait, I think you misunderstand. I'm not claiming to be associated with this crowd for god's sake, I'm just bringing up the topic for discussion.
