    Hell yeah! Hell no!

MA training coming out of my ears!

It looks like I could be cross training to a ridiculous extent from October, I'm just wondering though if it will be excellent for me or detrimental. I currently do 1x kung fu and 2xmma sessions a week, with gym sessions too,so about 5 days training. However, from October I have the chance to do muay thai and also kickboxing too. I'm quite happy to drop 1 or 2 of my cardio sessions to do this, and I am pretty sure these will add excellent skills to my training and hopefully enable me to compete.

What do you reckon then, stupid idea or excellent training?

I'm quite happy taking on the mt and the kickboxing as there's no grading system and I won't get bogged down in new forms etc. I'm also happy that I will be improving my stand up while continuing to improve my ground game with the mma.

Try the MT and kickboxing, see which is better, add only the better one. Cut out some of the cardio to make time.

Definitely going to be dropping 1 or 2 cardio sessions.I will probably be helping out at the kb class, so going to that anyway.

Hell yea, muay thai is great. How is the kickboxing class different?

If you're anything like me, cutting out the cardio is a great idea. I had to stop running on my off time because if I do I lose weight to a crazy degree no matter how much food I cram in.

I don't really lose weight that easily. I'm thinking the extra ma training will be good for me though as I'm seriously considering competing, although the women's mma amateur circuit over here isn't great .

Absolutely, it'll be great. I'm sure you can find some kickboxing matches if the women's mma isn't too big.

So back to this question: what's the difference between the muay thai and kickboxing classes? Is it at the same school?

Nope different school, the mt is a uni club run by an instructor who trains with Sandy Holt. The kb class is going to be by my kung fu instructor.

Yeah thinking about possibly full contact kickboxing maybe. Depends how I do with the muay thai too really. Also there are a fair few submission grappling comps cropping up that I may be able to take part in if I am brave enough! I do feel a bit too old to be thinking more about competing but it's something I want to do. Done some crappy points comps and I have no desire to do any more!
