Sorry I couldn't make it down today, Steve -- next time! I'm glad to hear Chris from Alliance did well.

No. I am not running this though. I am officiating and helping Vlad Koulikov promote it.
I went to the disney festival in 2004 and they have nice facilities. Numbers at our events are not enough for me to bite off that big a venue yet.

Wow, the guy who I lost to (by points) in the second round of the BJJ Pan-Am's placed in this tournament. Wish I could have come and had a re-match. Please keep us posted on future Sambo tournaments in NJ.

Farkhad Sharipov. He introduced himself to me as "Frank." Did you get to see any of his matches at your tournament? He was in the same division as a few of your own.

Yes. My student Tyga Maclin beat him at 3:30 in overtime, 2-0 (that is a 9:30 total match). A very very tough match for both guys. Tyga went on to win the tourny. Frank beat my student Reilly Bodycomb at 4:46 with an armbar for the Bronze. Another very close match with lots of back and forth. Reilly almost got him with a toe hold, but alas...he did not get it tight enough in time. Unfortunately one of Frank's opponents dropped due to medical DQ giving him the "win" and he had another "win" because he was scheduled to fight a friend of his who forfeited rather than grapple him. So, technically he had 4 matches, but only fought 2...going 1 - 1.

He is a stud. Russian National team wrestler who now trains in Florida at Gracie Barra.

Thanks for the info. That makes having lost to him much less painful.
