Just to throw something out there, this guy is being a little disingenuous about the school.

James Smart & Gary King the instructors, are listed as purple belts.

So, I doubt they teach the Gracie Combative program to the students.

    *Edit*

In the way he keeps implying.

Wow, this was a pretty interesting discussion. As someone who's lucky if I can even spell Jui Jitsu, I actually learned a fair bit here.
    Thanks

I think there is a civilian version of the combatives program. It was discussed here in this thread.

More BJJ bullshido - The Gracie Combatives Licensing Programô - No BS Martial Arts

The program supposedly leads to a blue belt in Gracie JJ. However I think I remember some stuff about it being a " technical blue belt ".

I think this is largely irrelevant, the question is more whether or not people are reasonable about these things. I know brown and black belts whose heads are up their asses when the name "Gracie" is mentioned.

I'd be interested to see the miltary syllabus & how it compares to the we teach (34 techniques broken down over 22 classes).

I don't, in the way I'm reading his posts.

I know brown and black belts whose heads are up their asses when the name "Gracie" is mentioned.
I'm saying he is a purple belt, that knows more than what he claims, teaching more than the combatives program to win tournaments.

If he is teaching the combatives program at all.

    - 15 hours per week of combatives + another 4-5 hours of privates
    - 4 hours per week of advanced techniques, either combative or sportive
    - 1 hour per week of open mat to test these techniques against others.

And also reflex development classes, and fight sim.

Okay, I'm opting out because, there are people of equal rank and in the US military talking. They are much more educated on this subject than me and apparently you.

My point is, you may teach what you call combatives but, according to multiple Military posters, you do not know what you are talking about.

I'm not calling your teaching into question but, your claim of your combatives being the same as US military Combatives.

Yes, all of their Tags have been verified.

Y9 and Jnp rarely post trivial stuff so, I'd believe them anyway. The fact they are both US Military and you are in Cape Town.....see where I'm going?
