Yogameditation and Spooky Interaction at a Distance

Ok so, I know there have been a few threads on this yogameditation guy before, but they were either flase starts, or cases of "LOL look at this loonie". I want to get it right this time.

I'm sure a lot of you have seen Wan Qi, who goes by the name yogameditation on youtube. I think he first came to light on bullshido with a video that was labeled as being a discusion on the relative merits of kung-fu and BJJ, but which quickly degenrates into a discussion of religion and mysticism.

A lot of us were quick to dismiss him a just a nut, and in fairness he does sound quite nutty, but I think there's more to him than that. I've taken the odd public speaking course in my time, and I recognised a lot of the tricks he was using. Say what you will about his views, but he definatly knows how to talk to an audience.

One thing he's very careful to do in each video, is to plug his websites: www.meditation-mantra.org and www.plurbis.com, so I decided to check them out. The more I saw the more pissed off I got.

On the on the front page of the meditation-mantra website he has mantras for sale at $17 each. The website is tacky, and plastered with paypal buttons, but there's nothing really wrong with it. The mantras are all described and their prices are clearly labeled. If you want to buy them, I guess it's your choice.

On the side of the page there's a link to a page where the "ancient, powerful" mantras are offered on a blogspot page. Here the prices of the mantras are not displayed. Taking a look at the source code though, I could see that they ranged from $81 to $181. That's quite a high price hike.

On http://www.plurbis.com/content/Pharmacy, you can buy his pills and potions. Highlights for me included the Taoist Salt at $330 for 200g, Imortals Moxa at $300 for 100g and some pills called Bioprin at $50 for 90*500mg. I've been told (not yet confirmed) that the Taoist Salt is just sea salt prepared using a traditional Korean method, ordinary moxa costs $3 for 100g, and I'm going to save the details of bioprin for later, but lets just say I'm sceptical about their claims.

I guess the question some of you have now is, "Well what has this got to do with martial arts". Well many of his products and meditations are marketed directly at martial artists. Elixers that will improve your endurance, chants that will allow you to project your chi, etc. More importantly, Greg Park (ChosonNinja) recently took him on as an assistant instructor. Now Greg might be mostly harmless, but he's got a lot of fans, most of whom are the impresionable types snake-oil salesmen prey on.

Anyhoo, I decided to run a whois on the domains. This is where it got interesting. It turns out the domains were registered by a company called Domains by Proxy, who (as their name suggests) register domains on behalf of third parties, allowing them them to hide their identities.

I'd seemed to have hit a dead end, so i decided to amuse myself by looking at some of Wan's kookier videos. I looked at one on chi fireballs, one on how to time travel, and then a really old one asking for viewers to send in a song. Wan said he would produce and market the best one using his Hollywood connections (yeah), the only requirement for this song was that it had to mention sparkah.com.

Hang on, sparkah.com, I hadn't heard of that one before. I took a quick gander, and it looked like a half finished version of meditation-mantra. Maybe he started it and then forgot about it. Whatever the story, it was clearly made by someone who was associated with him. I ran whois, and got a hit:

I googled "bob kim evdo", first hit was this gem: http://robert-kim.blogspot.com/, a page aledging that this Mr. Kim was not the best person to do business with. I checked out the links, they looked legit. (If some other Bullies could check it out and tell me what you think, that would be great.)

I'll spare the details, but it claims Bob Kim was selling EVDO/3G networking products and services at inflated prices, making outrageous claims about transfer speeds, and trying to steel the identity of another site.

Now, as a quick aside: I always thought "Wan Qi" was a funny name. First of all it sounds Chinese to me, yet most of the products this guy peddles are Korean. Also, "Qi" is an alternative romanization of "Chi"; "Wan Qi" is almost like calling your self "Max Power".

Ok, back to business. Most of the threads on this Kim guy are from 2005/2006, but there is one that had its last post in march of this year. I took a look, and who's face did I see? Yep, Wan Qi. It seems he and Kim are one and the same. I contacted one of the administrators and he confirmed this, I'm just waiting fro his permission to quote him.

Anyway, I'm still digging. I've got my sights on bioprin and the company that makes it. I'm trying to find out Kim's relation to them. I'm also ripping into a report they have stating that bioprin is as effective at controlling cancer growth as chemo.

I'm not done, I hope this post isn't premature, but I felt I needed to get the
word out before he snares too many of Choson's lot.

Could you find out how much bamboo salt and black garlic cost in bulk? Is there anyway of confirming Tao Salt is just bamboo salt?

Bamboo salt is just a seasoning. If I want it, I can buy it at the local Korean grocery store.

As far I know, there's no such thing as Tao salt. It sounds like something he's pulled out of his ass for thw DBZ crowd.

I live near cardiff and will check out the address you posted above. I also checked with somebody at qualcomm to see if he was an employee, I guess he claimed to have friends in the antenna design department, but that turned up a blank.

I admittedly know little about Daoist alchemy, but the majority of ingredients in these things are your typical herbal remedies, some with proven health benefits, others...not so much...

And of course all assembled through Daoist ritual. Which makes them uberchiful.

Ok 2 things:

1) That "sign up for free samples" is classic flim-flam tactics. I should go through the quackwatch check list, and see how many I can get.

2) I've already been looking into biodrux/jbni.net, especially that bioprin stuff. I've done whois lookups, medical journal lookups, all sorts of nosing arround , and I've found some interesting comments made by people from Harvard. I'm just waiting for some feedback.

Basically, I got that **** mixed and baking in the oven. I'll write it up as soon as I get a chance. Of course any extra info you can dig up would would be icing, and I sure love icing.

I consider it to be deceptive to spell out the numbers of your address the way he has done. For the search engine, that's

Note the previous address for bob kim was the same # but suite 102, and instead of Encinitas it was Cardiff, which are adjacent cities.

There is actually no "Pacific Coast Highway/PCH" in town here, it's just called "Coast Highway"

Yeah, I read in one of the links on robert-kim.blogspot.com that when people came looking for him, he shut up shop and moved into the suite directly upstairs. Maybe he's still in the same place, or maybe he's just not very imaginative when it comes to making up addresses.
