Conflict resolution without violence was an ideological belief held by the founder of aikido developed through his membership of the Omoto Kyo sect lead by Deguchi Onisaburo.
Actually putting that theory in to physical practice is very difficult and, to associate it typically with aikido is stereotypical of people who really don't know what they're talking about."To sin by silence when one should protest makes cowards out of men".
