    I like to think of kata as a more or less purely performance art, akin to Bboying or rhythm gymnastics. Towards that goal, there are some kata which look pretty damn nice. Others, on the other hand, just look retarded (I'm glarin' at you, Si Lum Dao).

    Unless it is a highly choreographed movie kata or a bonus from soul calibur, I'm not impressed by kata.

    no matter how good you think you are, all it does is make you look ridiculous and like an attention whore in front of a crowd.

    especially creative kata.

    seriously, it takes little to no skill whatsoever to perform kata.

    breakdancing/gymnastics/capoeira > kata

    enough said.
