Ouch, least it was from your elbow and not your shoulder..(I've had problematic shoulders for 2 years now, its no fun.)
Ice it, don't be afraid to take time off if you feel you have to. A week or two off is nothing in comparison to potentially months off(should it be aggravated further)
Just let your body do it's thing. (Heal up!) -

That sucks. Did your hand go numb or tingly? If so, that indicates a rather specific nerve was affected (I'll have to ask CdnPaddy who studied anatomy for the specifics), but that might affect your best treatment.
