My brother just brought my old heavy bag (leather Everlast from back in the day before China was discovered) to my friend's dojo because we needed another one. My brother had been using it in his basement (he boxes) for some time. I originally bought it, used, in 1981. It looks beat up but it's still rocking.

Maybe that's the problem, they just dont build stuff like they used to. Heck I'd imagine back when stuff was still made in the US and before the $ became as inflated as it is now, that training equipment was built stronger because it needed to last a long time. Nowadays it appears the trend is cheap but shoddy, easy to replace.
