Anybody recommend a good Hapkido Dojang in Long Island NY

Are there any good ones , not the TKD schools that offer a smidgeon of self defense they call Hapkido.

    Thank you.

Suggest you study Daito Ryu with a mainline teacher.

For those of us not in the know, can you explain what a "mainline" teacher is, and what makes them better?

There are a number of blatent (shall we say less honest) people operating within the realms of teaching Daito Ryu and in doing so, teaching mostly utter rubbish.

When I mention "mainline Daito Ryu", I do not want to re-hash the debate about the lines which may have legitimately split from Kondo Katsuyuki Sensei but, meaning studying authentic Daito Ryu rather than some other bullshit under a "10th dan soke"

It's already difficult enough to find good Hapkido instruction. I don't think recommending an even more obscure art is necessarily the answer.

And to answer the original question, this was all I could find from Google.

    Long Island Hapkido Center
    John Mattheos, Sabumnim
    70 West Main St.
    Babylon 11702
    631-587-0500
"Traditional Hapkido classes taught, all ages are welcome."

I don't know anything about the school, and it doesn't appear to have a website.

LOL, there's not much "obscure" about Daito Ryu.

I live a couple of towns away, I could always drop by and check it out

EDIT: However, I know NOTHING about hapkido...

    Beware the HKD dojang.

Been there, done that. I was llucky at my original find.

Moved back home and the choices were crap.

There is good HKD our there, and there is TKD calling itself HKD.
