    Cage Rage 27 - Step Up. July 12, 2008

Arguably the best MMA show in the UK, Cage Rage brings another ill-promoted event out to the masses. I believe they were purchased by Elite XC so the possibility of further cross-promotional events is higher. After all, don't we just want to see the top fighters go against each other?

FULL CARD / CAGE RAGE 27: Step Up
    Phil Baroni vs. Scott Jansen
Robert "Buzz" Berry vs. Neil Grove
James McSweeney vs. Mustapha Al Turk
    John Phillips vs. Tom Watson
    Stav Economou vs. Piotor Kusmierz
    Ashleigh Grimshaw vs. Robbie Olivier
    Christian Binda vs. Brad Pickett
Eva Liskova vs. Aisling Daley (cute Bullshido member)
    Jason Young vs. Francis Heagney
    Mark Brown vs. Wesley Johnson
    Umidjon Mavlyanov vs. Jody Cottham
James Elson vs. Dave Van Gas

Yup I agree 100% that was fucking disgraceful. Looks very bad on UK MMA. Shame Baroni (or one of his corner) didnt knock that idiot out, cant believe they didnt! Probably good that they didnt as it could of started a riot! That lad needs to sort his corner out and as for that bitch he needs to ditch her classless arse!

Word is that Coleman and Nick Thompson were held back from ending that boy.

Cage Rage is promoted to attract these sort of characters and you reap what you sow. The Cage Warriors card in Nottingham was much better than this anyway.

I've seen Stav fight in the UWC promotion several times and he always makes mince meat out of his opponents. Anyone know how he did?

    EDITED TO ADD:

Sure Grip Vale Tudo fighter Stav Economou (Pictures) went head to head with Piotr Kusmierz in a rough battle of attrition, both men landing heavy blows in a series of wild exchanges. The fight went back and forth, but "Crazy Bear" Economou was able to score with several slams, even launching his 125 kg (275 lbs) frame in the air to come crashing down on his exhausted Polish opponent. Despite his face showing some significant battle damage, Economou dominated the standup encounter toward bout's end and scored a well-deserved unanimous decision in his Cage Rage debut.

Headbutting for shame. Baroni took that well considering I've always seen him as a hothead. Didn't even mention it in the post fight interview (although I listened to it only half-assedly)
Curiosity killed the cat. But damn it had a blast.
