    Hell yeah! Hell no!
With all the negative about TKD/Karate schools that have become so commercial..I think it would be cool to take this time..lol to recognize a GOOD school...mine...lol

I thought long & hard about this when McDojo site was opened...Was my place one?? I couldn't bear the thought...so I really examined it..

My school broke away from all TKD associations because the owner couldn't stand how commercial & corrupt they had become..

We do not pass a child or adult unless he/she meets the belt req. The testing is more demanding for an adult.

We have an MMA instructor that teaches everything from BJJ/Aikido/Kali/Judo & more (Joe McCray/ Progressive Martial Arts)

Fees are VERY low & when a person can't afford to pay, they don't

The only thing McDojo about my school is that we do have one form per belt, but I don't beleve that's a bad thing for kids..teaches them stances, kicks & hand tech..

We focus on real life skills for kids "what to do if someone grabs you, drives up next to you in a car, grabs your arm" etc
For the adults: grappling, real contact sparring, wrist locks, weapons, takedowns...etc

We're a small school & I'm pretty proud to be an instructor there..for those of you who might know of a similar school that has broken away from the traditional & has added new & useful, great, then you know what I'm talking about..
for those of you who are going to slam what I just posted & come back with stupid **** about how can I look at myself in the mirror...lol
    **** off
    (pardon my language)

Good luck with your training. Nice to see there are still real martial artists in the USA.

Wow, just checked your profile, your only 16..I am surprised by your posts & your profile...you handle yourself very well for a young one...
I actually teach TKD 5 days a week...I do love it but, it also gives me 24 hour access to a huge, clean & carpeted school. Where I can pursue my real love MMA Myself & couple others do BJJ, Kali, MT, Box & spar...full contact, till one of us gets a takedown, then we grapple....sometimes we use fencing masks so we can elbow & punch balls out & use sticks...
I love it...What is your training of choice??

Hey Sam, if your school has a website, upload the link into the legit schools section.

Even though I'm not personally a fan of TKD, it sounds like you guys are doing things the right way. And that has to be really tough in the TKD world.

To be honest with you I'M NOT a big TKD fan either, but it was my base & I love the school. We all start somewhere...
That would be great to have a legit school sec, I will see if our page is up & running..

TKD sucks, but you got to have something that makes money, so as long as they teach SOMETHING worth learning it's ok.

    your school sounds great!
mine's similar, only we're still affiliated to an association (which itself broke away from all the mainstream ones) but my instructor's not so popular in the hieracy (sp) coz he teaches us its of other Ma, that arent on the sillabus, and grappling, self defense etc.
well that's two good schools in the whole world, yours and mine.......i think that's a record.

which school is that (i'm from the uk btw)?
    "Training = pain." - I said that.

PizDoff when drunk: "I'm actually MOST pissed that my target for the evening got drink...then I gave her my Bullshido Canada hoodie like a gentleman because she was outside with not much on...did I mention she barfed twice when I got our jackets...steaming barf is kinda fascinating..." - PizDoff.

For striking, Shotokan. For grappling, Shuai Chiao. Also mess around with Aikido and Baguazhang now and then, great self defense.

Make that three. Muksodo, the military Tae Kyon. You might like checking it out, adding it to your own training. Those guys are dead serious, and train not only kicks, but leglocks, takedowns, strike-grappling, and hell knows what else.
