Does anyone else ever get times where they just can't face going to training?
For some reason, I always go to the gym but sometimes I just can't face BJJ, even though I absolutely love it. My GF has persuaded me to just take a week off to rest and restart with a rejuvinated body next week.
What I want to know though is if anyone else falls foul of this? What do you do to get round it or do you just take time off?

Yea if it's a chronic issue just take the time off and once a little time's passed you'll be itching to get back in there.
For me though, generally the days I really don't wanna go are the days I really appreciate having gone afterward.

I know what you mean about being glad you went after but I never feel like I don't want to go so the rest of the week off might get me itching to go again like you said.
Ah well, I'm sure in the scheme of things a few days off won't hurt but I always feel bad if I don't make it.

Think of it like a weight training deload. Sometimes you just need to ramp down for a little bit to allow yourself to come back stronger.

Burn out. Either take the time off and take care of other things pending (we always have things that require our attention), or relax and go to the movies or something.
Or go to a couple of classes but don't roll. Seriously. Burnout is not just physical but also mental. You need to re-charge you mind and body... that sounded like tree hugging hippy crap. Oh well.

Take the time off. I always feel guilty when I take a day here and there but there are times when you have to do this not just for the body like Teh El Macho says but for that mind..There are times when you need to push yourself and be in class but the days you don't go and do other things, just enjoy them..Life's too short to burn out,enjoy some things

It's been a nightmare to do BJJ and weightlifting lately - just like everyone else has said, it's been physical and mental.
Summer classes, moving, personal junk, getting used to public transportation (meaning my schedule just got a lot less flexible), starting a new second job, helping friends out with their ****...etc...it's been a nightmare. Today class ended, I'm nice and situated and used to a lot of this 'new junk' so I'm ready to go back to just-about-every-day.
Seriously though (I'm itching now, but before...), I'd be on my way to the gym and think: "**** this **** I'm going home to relax."
Sometimes it's easier to get better and do what you love when you occasionally take the time to make yourself want it.
Just relax and come back 10x stronger. You won't regret it.
