    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    the 4 minute workout.

I live in norway. Yesterday there was a artivcle in one of norways biggest newspapers.
Some scientists from NTNU(a university in norway) claims to have found the perfect workout. They claim that short workouts with maxsimum effort is way better than long and painfull workouts.

The article seems to be focusing on fitness workout. "The only way to improve the body and the healty is to increase the intensity on the training" Jan Hoff(a scientist from NTNU)
This training is supposed to improve endurance and fat burning. It doesn't say anything about maxsimum strength.

Here is the experiment. They used to groups of people. the first group did a long workout 3 times a week. the second group did a short but intens workout 3 times a week(Intervall training) the group that did short and intense workouts improved endurance more than the people that did long workouts.

"The best thing you can do is to train at maxsimum intensity in 4 minutes and then relax 4 minutes"

"lack of intensity can't be replaced with long workouts"

"It is important with some long distanse running if you want to build up over a longer periode"

It doesn't really say anything about which type of excersices they are talking about they say that you should do 4 minutes at max intensity then rest and then repet this 4 times in total.. I tried to find the article on www.dagbladet.no but I couldn't find it. Neither could I find it at www.ntnu.no It think this article is a bit confusing because it doesn't say what type of excerises they are talking about. I would like to investigate this more but I don't have time right now. I am about to travel somewhere. Maybe somebody else could look into this

Of course you have to warm up..

the scientist that is mentioned in this article is named: Jan hoff

Could this be of intrest to mma practisioners?
Feel free to investigate if this is of intrest.

You can't do anything at max intensity for 4 minutes. You'll start to peter out after about 30 seconds if you're lucky.

It's a good point that you need to train anaerobically for such activities, but it's not anything new.

kind of misleading in that its not 4 minutes, its 4 minute intervals. which isn't even true because 4 minutes is a fucking ass load of time when it comes to intervals... try a 30 second workout.

What about swimming subsurface at max intensity...two 1:30 bursts interrupted by a 60 second rest period could be a real smoker...

How about: shut the **** up, go train Muay Thai and learn what a real 'intense' work out is.

    Asshats.

P.S. Alex when the **** did you get to New Zealand?

"lack of intensity can't be replaced with long workouts"

Obviously the long workouts in the study were bullshit ones.

Don't you need both long and short workouts? The short "burst" workouts to be more explosive and the long workouts for endurance, right?
