On the topic of which I got to re-watch the Stevenson -Guillard fight the other night, I sit down and my parents (who are casual fans at best) were telling me how this large black guy was going to knock this little white guy out, because in his clips they made him out to be an uber badass. When i realized it was melvin I immediatley put five on his opponent...then watched their faces drop 27 seconds later...:P

No, no, I wasn't being sarcastic, I completely agree with you. Skinny white guys with mohawks and tattoes are neither needed nor wanted in MMA.

The ones with skill are admired. The annoying emo fags without it aren't.

    Chuck's style =/= Leben's style

True, I'll admit I was stretching it a bit with the Chuck analogy. (Although the Iceman has been known to throw a looping punch or two himself...)

I just like Leben because I've never looked at one of his fights and thought to myself, "Well, Chris is just trying to coast to a decision now." Also, if I am remembering correctly, since he lost to Khalib Starnes he is 2-0 in his last 2 fights (McFries and Alessio Sakura) with both wins coming by knockout, so he must be doing something right.

I'll give him credit for never trying to bore out a decision, but at the same time I think he would be a much better fighter if he used some more strategy rather than coming straight at his opponent guns blazing and relying on his chin to keep alive. His hockey fight style has brought him his sucess and is the reason for his popularity, but doesn't work against strikers that know how to circle away (I'm not going to even mention the fight with Silva, because so far nothing has worked against that guy).

Despite his minor sucesses, I don't know why anyone would want him to run a training camp. But I guess we'll see what kind of talent he produces. I really hope Leben makes me eat my words, but I'm not betting on it.

Only Americans would describe a light heavyweight fighter as "skinny".
