Strikeforce 6/27/08 Thread (****SPOILERS****)

Can't actually watch the fights, since I don't have the extra $ to watch the PPV. Results/bouts info from the Sherdog PBP (spoilers again): http://www.sherdog.com/news/news.asp?n_id=13454.

Started this thread to say, basically, that I guess Raymond Daniels isn't the second coming of Cung Le...not yet anyway. The fight sounded ridiculously 1-sided and exposed Daniels' lack of groundgame. Anyone see the fight? Did it look as dominating as it sounded? Did he get to pull off any of his crazy kicks?

Me too...sounded like (from the Play-By-Play) Daniels barely got to do anything other than try a guillotine from half-guard, and give up easy takedowns. I'd hoped he had good enough wrestling to display his style.

Frankly, I'm disappointed. I don't think he threw a single clean strike and his ground game was just terrible. If he chooses to continue in MMA, I hope he takes a year off and really hones his grounds skills with some seasoned pro's and then returns. His stand-up is great imo, but he just looked a bit nervous and green.

Thanks for the video. Man, Daniels did not look good at all. The write-up was very accurate, he didn't even get to throw a strike, just an attempt at a loose guillotine and being overwhelmed on the ground.

Daniels also got hit in the chin with a fairly decent right hook if I recall correctly. His hands were down at his chest the whole time too and he bounced around like a sport karate fighter.

Could it be because he's a sport krotty fighter?

That would be my guess. They kept saying he had kickboxing experience, but did he have any other than the WCL?

Not to my knowledge. Most of the WCL's top guys were sport krotty fighters because of the similar setup and rulesets.

Daniels was hyped as the guy that would bring legitimacy to the WCL the same way Andy Souwer did for Shootboxing and its spandex wearing fighters. This will only hurt the WCL's reputation further and inspire some nice "LOL Krotty" footage for future videos.

Can't say I'm sorry to see it though. After that entrance and his interviews...egads.
