I love them, especially for fighting, your shin bone really cuts through the minimal padding and actually does damage, plus they're so light that you actually have control over your kicks if you want to pull them for sparring.

Always turning, easy to pull off if grabbed (of course I'm talking about mma), stink after 3 weeks of use.

I've never had a problem with them turning but wow they smell horrible after a few good workouts.

I've never had a problem withthem turning or getting pulled off. I have no sense of smell (congenital anosmia, look it up) so I dont know if they stink :)

My coach used to not let me wear the cloth ones in practice because I could hurt the newbs with them too easily. But for amateur fights I wouldn't wear anything else.

These are the type of shin pads I've always worn because they're cheap and I'm cheap.

However I recently discovered a downside to their lack of real protection when I bruised my shin bone. When I say 'recently' I mean 3-4 months ago and the damn thing is still swollen and hurts like a bitch if it gets hit.

So now I think expensive shin guard with real padding aren't such a bad idea.

I'm the one in the white rashguard and JNP is in grey. JNP is wearing a kids pair of TKD shinguards we borrowed from the school's equipment rack. I actually like that style of shinguard if you have some that fit well. They are very lightweight and have extra thick padding over the shin bone.
