    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Am I the only one not in the kool aid?

I was recently browsing sherdog and came across this gem: http://www.sherdog.net/forums/f2/how...ically-804744/

After reading such brilliant statements as

"Anderson is the best striker, in any sport, ever"
"Anderson will walk through 205, there's no one that can touch him"
    "Anderson can beat Fedor"
    "Anderson tools Big Nog"
"BJ Penn would not last a round against anderson"

And other complete nut riding statements involving Anderson Silva being damned near capable of doing anything short of flying and shooting laser beams out of his eyes I have to beg the question, am I the only one who hasn't been drinking the UFC's kool aid and sees Anderson as a very good fighter who can get out struck by AA,Mirko, Wandy...etc.? I don't know I'm just finding the level of Silva nut huggerry to be of epic proportions...it borders on painful.

Listen to KC. You'll find a lot of crazy **** on Sherdog simply because it's such an anonymous shoutfest. Very, very few people here would agree with any of the above statements.

"Anderson is the best striker, in any sport, ever"
He's good, but he's not the best ever, even in MMA. There are better pure strikers out there, what makes Anderson different is that he also has submission skills.

"Anderson will walk through 205, there's no one that can touch him"
Ridiculous. Maybe he will, but we have no way of knowing and it's the most stacked division in the UFC. Plus, Silva's weakness is his wrestling, which will be compounded by a higher weight class.

    "Anderson can beat Fedor"
    Oy. I don't think so.

    "Anderson tools Big Nog"
    In boxing, sure he's better.

    YouTube - Anderson Silva sparring

In MMA? Nog by better wrestling and BJJ.

"BJ Penn would not last a round against anderson"
Be an interesting fight...I think Anderson would win because BJ's not a good enough takedown artist to bring Silva to the ground (at least not with BJ on top) and because Silva's a much better striker. But Silva wouldn't sub BJ and BJ has the best chin in the lightweight division. If it ended in a KO it would at least take Silva 2-3 rounds.

BJ would probably fight a really intelligent fight. If the fight happens, and BJ is able to avoid/nullify Silva's knees and elbows, I could see BJ getting the submission.

Guy's BJ is great, but that's TWO weight classes up for him. Silva would just be too big for him in my opinion.

The rest is typical sherdog nonsense. One of the funniest things ever was going on sherdog after Gabriel Gonzaga straight up fucking murdered Crocop.

BJ fought THREE weight classes up when he fought Machida and took him to decision.

Which is why it wouldn't be destruction. Machida and Silva are very different fighters, however. Silva seems to hit much harder, hits more often while being just as accurate, and is about 10x more aggressive. The only thing Machida is much better at is takedown defense, which I don't think Silva would need to worry about against BJ.
