Yep, well that cinches it! One fight can TOTALLY prove a fighting style is good.
Or, maybe you're a fucking idiot and all this proves that the guy fighting is good, and that maybe his studio is good too. If his studio is good and most others suck, that means the art sucks as it is generally practiced, and arts are defined by how they are generally practiced. These "t3h realz art is ossum but iz not practis!" arguments are so, so old and lame. -

FFS!!!
This old chestnut again?
Look - it doesn't matter what MA you take... be it traditional MA or MMA or whatever.
If you're employing a technique badly against someone who has even studied the same MA as yourself and has got better technique... more likely as not (there are some very few odd random exceptions) you will get owned.
If you're just trying to use a technique that has many holes and flaws (for example trying to get the eyes of someone who's got you in a solid choke-hold from behind) even if you're doing it REALLY EXACTLY AS YOU WERE SHOWN IN THAT ROPEY McHUANG you went to for years... there will be a time where this flawed technique will let you down no matter how much you practice it.
Put it this way, would you rather go in the ring against someone who's done <place favorite MA here> for 1 month or so....
OR
Go against someone who's practiced and studied <*least favorite MA here> for years and years very fucking hard indeed to a serious and proper level.
*and I mean a real MA, not some bullshit made up do some TKD with a few kids - bolt on a bit of basic self defense work after class for 20 mins and expect it to be the r33l sh!t... -
