What PirateJon said, but take shower at least first if you swim. Ok, might sound captain Obvious, but you´d be suprised how many people here forget it.

You shower first so that your disgusting bacterial infected sweat doesn't get in the water.

I used to sauna first and then jump in the water so it felt even colder. Will try it the other way around and see how i feel.

    Cheers guys.

As PirateJon said, both. Ice for the sores, sauna for the relaxation and cold/hot/cold/hot-cycles. If the sauna is semi-hot (like 80+ Celsius / 175+ Fahrenheit) be careful with dehydration.

Off to sauna (i loves them) ->

Ice bath + hot water bath is great for recovery, along with deep massages they're absolutely key to Bulgarian Oly lifters who train 2-3 times a day.

Now, this was in one of my favorite books, Science of sports training, and the author (Thom Kurz) recommends hot and cold shower to prevent muscle soreness. But, after a while, if you do the same routine over and over, it will lose it's effectiveness. Basically, save it for the really hard workouts, so you don't build up a tolerance. You know, you could sauna on the days that you don't train as hard, cold bath/hot on the hard, draining workouts, etc.

Well, if you´ve done training you are sweaty, and it´s better to shower still before and after swimming.

And, unlike Hans here, I know ukemi. ;-)

I'd like to know more about the proven health benefits of dry saunas..I have read a couple of articles on the internet, but that's it.
I do the hot sauna for about 10 or 15 minutes, then go rinse with cold water for a few minutes and cool down, drink water and go back in for another 10 and repeat - when I have the time to do it like that.
    It works for me.
