why dont weigh ins?
I got a question
Why are pro weigh ins the day before the fight and not the day of?
Weigh ins the day of would help with a lot of the weight cutting issues that plague the sport.
I don't get it.

That would pretty much eliminate weight cutting. No one wants to be cutting any weight on the day they have to fight.
Maybe it would take too much time/not give fighters time to prepare?

I agree with you 100%, weigh ins should be day of. Weight cutting is out of hand and it defeats the purpose of having so many weight classes IMO.

Because people would try to cut weight anyway and come in dangerously dehydrated?

Because people want to see exciting fights. Not two exhausted dehydrated guys gas out and faint.

Also, there are people still cut the same amount weither the weigh in is the day of or not.

my understanding is that boxing made the move from same day to day before in order to lower the mortality rate, and mma follows a boxing model in these matters.
absurd weight cutting, detestable as it is, is preferable to deaths in the cage.
(weigh ins one week prior, one day prior, and ringside would possibly fix things, but even that's unlikely)

I for one, am sick of cutting weight. **** that. I'm gonna eat healthy and plentiful and fight at whatever I weigh walking around. It's just not worth fighting with a messed up stomache every time.

i hate weight cutting, but as long as the competition is going to do it, i would be a bad coach to not tell fighters to do it (the right way anyway)"Face punches are an essential character building part of a martial art.
